Piney Woods Evening Dinner Train

June 27th and September 19th

Piney Woods Evening Dinner Excursion – Texas State Railroad invites you to join us for our evening roundtrip train excursion through the Piney Woods of East Texas.   This excursion departs the Palestine Rail Depot promptly at 5:00PM.  We will traverse the tracks enjoying the evening hours on our 1 hour and 20-minute journey to the Rusk Depot.   Once at Rusk, we will be treated to a savory catered dinner served on the beautiful grounds of the depot by the lake.  

On our return trip, relax and enjoy conversation with your party or take the time to meet others along for the ride.   Enjoy a coffee, or drink from our concession as your train attendant provides wait service or visit the concession car on your own.  This unique adventure is a great getaway from the normal routine! 

Several seating options and rates are available for this excursion.   Included in the rates for this event are a champagne or cider toast, freshly prepared appetizers, dinner and dessert with iced tea or water.  For clarification, appetizers will be enjoyed on the train ride over to Rusk however, dinner and dessert will be served on the grounds at our Rusk Depot.  

Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase on the train and at the Rusk Depot.  

An ADA-compliant coach is available but must be reserved directly through our Reservations Desk.

A $3.00 Historical Preservation Fee will be added to the individual ticket rate at checkout.   This fee goes directly towards, our depots and the railroad and is used to protect, enhance buildings, places and objects of historical and cultural significance.

Exclusive private car with up to 8 guests. Features comfortable individual seating, cupola seating for a birds-eye view and a private outdoor viewing platform. In addition, this car is temperature-controlled and features a private restroom. Upon departure, a personal car attendant will serve a complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and freshly prepared appetizers to each guest. A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. This car is NOT ADA-compliant.

Presidential Car 1511

In addition, this car is temperature-controlled and features a private restroom. A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. This car is NOT ADA-compliant.

Art Deco inspired Car 42 features comfortable COUCHES with intimate table service and large picture windows. In addition, this car is temperature controlled and features a private restroom. A personal car attendant will serve a complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and freshly prepared appetizers to each guest upon departure. A variety of alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. All seating is assigned and parties with an odd number of guests may share a COUCH with a non-party guest. It is recommended for parties of more than 4 to book a combination of both types of seating to sit across the aisle. Booking both COUCHES and TABLES will require separate reservations online. A variety of alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. All seating is assigned and parties greater than 2 will be seated front to back at 2 or more tables. Parties with an odd number may share a table with a non-party guest. It is recommended for parties of more than 4 to book a combination of both types of seating to sit across the aisle. Booking both COUCHES and TABLES will require separate reservations online. This car is NOT ADA compliant.

The exclusive glass-top dome car features booth-style seating on the upper level with a steep, narrow stair passageway on both ends. The unobstructed birds-eye view is something everyone should experience. This car is temperature-controlled and has a restroom on the first level. Car attendant(s) will serve a complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and freshly prepared appetizers to each guest upon departure. A variety of alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. All seating is assigned and parties not divisible by 4 (Four) will be assigned a booth front to back or across the aisle and may share a table with non-party guests. This car is NOT ADA-compliant.

First Class

Due to inclement weather and for the safety of our guests and crew, all Texas State Railroad train excursions scheduled for Thursday, June 12, Friday, June 13, Saturday, June 14, Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, 2025 have been cancelled.

What this means for you:

  • All tickets for excursions on these dates are eligible for a full refund or rescheduling, per our standard cancellation and refund policy
