Piney Woods Evening Dinner Train

June 26th and September 11th

Piney Woods Evening Dinner Excursion – Texas State Railroad invites you to join us for our 4-hour evening round-trip train excursion through the Piney Woods of East Texas.   This excursion departs the Palestine Railroad Depot promptly at 5:00 PM.  We will traverse the tracks, enjoying the evening hours on our 1-hour and 20-minute journey to the Rusk Depot.   Once at Rusk, we will be treated to a savory catered dinner served outside on the beautiful grounds of the depot by the lake.  

On our return trip, relax and enjoy conversation with your party, or take the time to meet others along for the ride. Enjoy a coffee or beverage from our concession as your train attendant provides wait service.  A selection of Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase onboard.  This unique adventure is a great getaway from the normal routine! 

Several seating options and rates are available for this excursion.   Included in the rates for this event are a Champagne or Cider toast, appetizer, dinner and dessert with iced tea or water.  For clarification, the toast and appetizer will be enjoyed on the train ride over to Rusk however, dinner and dessert will be served outside on the grounds at our Rusk Railroad Depot.  

An ADA-compliant coach is available but must be reserved directly through our Reservations Desk.

A $3.00 Historical Preservation Fee will be added to the individual ticket rate at checkout.   This fee goes directly towards, our depots and the railroad and is used to protect, enhance buildings, places and objects of historical and cultural significance.

Exclusive private car with up to 8 guests. The caboose features comfortable individual seating, cupola seating for a bird’s-eye view and a private outdoor viewing platform. In addition, this car is temperature-controlled and features a private restroom. Upon departure, a personal car attendant will serve complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and appetizers to each guest. A personal car attendant will serve complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and appetizer to each guest upon departure. A selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase onboard. All seating is assigned and parties with an odd number of guests may share a COUCH with a non-party guest. It is recommended for parties of more than 4 to book a combination of both types of seating to sit across the aisle. Booking both COUCHES and TABLES will require separate reservations online. Service Suspension Notice – June 12-14 and June 20-21, 2025

Due to inclement weather and for the safety of our guests and crew, all Texas State Railroad train excursions scheduled for Thursday, June 12, Friday, June 13, Saturday, June 14, Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, 2025 have been cancelled.

What this means for you:

  • All tickets for excursions on these dates are eligible for a full refund or rescheduling, per our standard cancellation and refund policy
