Rockin’ The Rails

Join us for our 4th annual “ROCKIN’ THE RAILS” excursion train featuring BLACKTOP MOJO!!! What could be better than taking a vintage train ride to a private concert with 500+ of your best friends?!? On May 16th, you will have the opportunity to do just that!!!

This round-trip excursion leaves from Palestine, TX Depot at 5:00pm on May 16th. We will journey for 1 hour and 20 minutes to our Rusk Depot, where we will disembark and rock out with East Texas’ own Blacktop Mojo, who will be fresh off their 2nd UK tour! Following the concert, we will board the train and head back to Palestine.

Blacktop Mojo’s fiery blend of sludgy grunge grooves, classic rock guitar riffs, and southern metal shredding falls somewhere between Soundgarden and Lynyrd Skynyrd. With 5 albums, multiple mainstream top 40 chart singles and an energetic live show, Blacktop Mojo has garnered a loyal international following.  We have several seating and pricing options available from our open-air coaches to our private Caboose.

We will be offering several VIP packages, some of which include a champagne or cider toast and appetizers upon departure, VIP concert seating, swag bags and even a photo op with the band. We have a concession car onboard offering snacks, alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. We will also have concessions available on the grounds.

Onboard restrooms and an ADA-compliant coach are available. Please note that the ADA-compliant coach must be booked directly with our reservations desk.

A $3.00 Historical Preservation Fee will be added to the individual ticket rate at checkout.   This fee goes directly towards, our depots and the railroad and is used to protect, enhance buildings, places and objects of historical and cultural significance. 

Caboose

$2000 flat rate (up to 8 people)

Exclusive private car with a capacity of up to 10 guests. The Caboose features comfortable seating, cupola seating for a birds-eye view, and a private outdoor viewing platform. In addition, this car is temperature controlled and features a private restroom. Upon departure, a personal car attendant will serve a complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and appetizers to each guest. Bottled water is included in the flat rate ticket price. A variety of alcoholic beverages and additional snacks are available for purchase. This car is NOT ADA-compliant. Rockin’ The Rails Excursion guests will have photo op with Blacktop Mojo, front row seating at concert, swag bag and be treated to a private acoustic song performed in the Caboose by Matt and Catt from Blacktop Mojo upon departure of the train following the Concert. No outside food or drink permitted.

Presidential Car 1511

The nostalgic Car 1511 features comfortable seats, intimate table service, large picture windows, and a private outdoor viewing platform. In addition, this car is temperature-controlled and has a restroom. Upon departure, a personal car attendant will serve complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and appetizers to each guest. A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks are available for purchase. This car is NOT ADA-compliant. Rockin’ The Rails Excursion guests will have photo op with Blacktop Mojo, first or second row seating at concert, swag bag and be treated to a private acoustic song performed in the Presidential Car 1511 by Matt and Catt from Blacktop Mojo upon departure of the train following the Concert. No outside food or drink permitted.

Presidential Car 42 Couches

Art Deco inspired, Car 42 features comfortable COUCHES with intimate table service and large picture windows. In addition, this car is temperature controlled and has a restroom. A personal car attendant will serve complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and appetizers to each guest upon departure. A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as snacks are available for purchase. Parties with an odd number of guests may share a COUCH with a non-party guest. It is recommended for parties of more than 4 (Four) to book a combination of both types of seating (Couches and Tables) to sit across the aisle. Booking both COUCHES and TABLES will require separate reservations when booking online and is best to contact our reservations desk directly to ensure the reservations are linked and your party will sit together. For assistance with booking, please call 855-632-7729. This car is NOT ADA-compliant. Dome

The exclusive glass-top dome car features booth-style seating on the upper level with a steep, narrow stair passageway on both ends. The unobstructed birds-eye view is something everyone should experience. This car is temperature-controlled and has a restroom on the first level. Car attendant(s) will serve complimentary Champagne or Sparkling Cider toast and appetizers to each guest upon departure. A variety of alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. All seating is assigned and parties not divisible by 4 (Four) will be assigned a booth front to back or across the aisle and may share a table with non-party guests. This car is NOT ADA-compliant. Rockin’ The Rails Excursion guests will be treated to a swag bag and a private acoustic song performed in the Dome by Matt and Catt from Blacktop Mojo upon departure of the train following the Concert. No outside food or drink permitted.

First Class

Comfortable booth-style seating for 4 (Four) with table service and large windows. First Class cars are temperature controlled, and restroom(s) are available on the car. Car attendant(s) will serve light appetizers and a small, bottled water upon departure. All Seating is assigned and parties not divisible by 4 (Four) will be assigned a booth front to back or across the aisle and may share a table with non-party guests. This car is NOT ADA-compliant. No outside food or drink permitted.

Open Air

Historic wooden bench seats with no window enclosures. A concession car is accessible for purchase of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as snacks. Service Suspension Notice – June 12-14 and June 20-21, 2025

Due to inclement weather and for the safety of our guests and crew, all Texas State Railroad train excursions scheduled for Thursday, June 12, Friday, June 13, Saturday, June 14, Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, 2025 have been cancelled.

What this means for you:

  • All tickets for excursions on these dates are eligible for a full refund or rescheduling, per our standard cancellation and refund policy
