Pints in the Pines

June 27th and August 8th

What could be better than enjoying the beautiful East Texas Piney Woods from a vintage train whilst wetting your whistle with some tasty local ales?

Make memories with friends by taking a journey on our “Pints in the Pines” excursion.  This is an adult-only excursion departing promptly from Palestine, TX at 5:00 pm. We will travel through the Piney Woods of East Texas to our Rusk, TX, Rail Depot while sampling several local or regional beers.  If you are not a “beer” drinker, don’t fret!!  We have a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase onboard. 

Upon our arrival at the Rusk, TX Depot, we will enjoy a catered dinner with dessert, water/tea outside as the sun sets. On our journey back to Palestine, you can purchase your favorite brew and share laughs and conversation with family and friends.  

This excursion is approximately 4 hours in duration, including our time on the grounds at Rusk.  All classes of seating will be served a complimentary appetizer, beer samplings (2oz samples), dinner, dessert, as well as a commemorative Texas State Railroad Pint Glass as a special memento of your journey with us.  

A selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks will be available onboard and on the grounds for purchase.

We do offer an ADA-compliant railcar; however, reservations must be made directly with our reservations desk directly at 855-632-7729.

You must be 21 to participate in the beer tasting. The menu and breweries will be announced closer to the event date.

A $3.00 Historical Preservation Fee will be added to the individual ticket rate at checkout.   This fee goes directly towards, our depots and the railroad and is used to protect, enhance buildings, places and objects of historical and cultural significance.

Exclusive private car with up to 8 guests. The caboose features comfortable individual seating, cupola seating for a bird’s-eye view and a private outdoor viewing platform. In addition, this car is temperature-controlled and features a private restroom. Upon departure, a personal car attendant will serve appetizers to each guest along with beer tastings throughout the journey. Presidential Car 1511

Presidential Car 42 Couches

Art Deco inspired Car 42 features comfortable COUCHES with intimate table service and large picture windows. In addition, this car is temperature controlled and features a private restroom. Upon departure, a personal car attendant will serve appetizers to each guest along with beer tastings throughout the journey. A selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase onboard. All seating is assigned and parties with an odd number of guests may share a COUCH with a non-party guest. It is recommended for parties of more than 4 to book a combination of both types of seating to sit across the aisle. Booking both COUCHES and TABLES will require separate reservations online. Presidential Car 42 Table w/Chairs

All seating is assigned and parties greater than 2 will be seated front to back at 2 or more tables. Parties with an odd number may share a table with a non-party guest. It is recommended for parties of more than 4 to book a combination of both types of seating to sit across the aisle. Booking both COUCHES and TABLES will require separate reservations online. Dome

The exclusive glass-top dome car features booth-style seating on the upper level with a very steep, narrow stair passageway on both ends. The unobstructed birds-eye view is something everyone should experience. This car is temperature-controlled and has a restroom on the first level. Upon departure, a personal car attendant(s) will serve appetizers to each guest along with beer tastings throughout the journey. A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase onboard. All seating is assigned and parties not divisible by 4 (Four) will be assigned a booth front to back or across the aisle and may share a table with non-party guests. First Class

Service Suspension Notice – June 12-14 and June 20-21, 2025

Due to inclement weather and for the safety of our guests and crew, all Texas State Railroad train excursions scheduled for Thursday, June 12, Friday, June 13, Saturday, June 14, Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, 2025 have been cancelled.

What this means for you:

  • All tickets for excursions on these dates are eligible for a full refund or rescheduling, per our standard cancellation and refund policy
