Haunted Phantom Train
Listen and you’ll hear the lonesome wail of a far-off train whistle. An owl hoots from behind you as you approached the abandoned rail cars parked on a spooky side track. What’s onboard? Could it be ghosts, ghouls and spirits of passengers of long ago? The Railroad’s eerie beginnings, a track built by prisoners in the 1880s, have led to sightings of apparitions over the ages, perhaps the ghosts of the men who died during the construction of the track. With no family or friends to retrieve their bodies, it’s rumored that these prisoners were buried right where they died, along the rails or within the trackbed. Their spirits linger within the Phantom Train and during the Halloween season, sometimes stirred from their slumber to haunt anew.
